The Lumbee River Board of Directors has approved an additional $29,500 to be given to the LREMC Cares Energy Assistance Program. “LREMC is concerned about the welfare of our members and the hardship many of them are currently facing,” said Chairman of the Board, Roger Oxendine. “Our board of directors feels this is even more important this summer considering how hot it has been.”

Various agencies in our service area are committed to providing assistance to all qualifying residents during this difficult economy and the recent extreme hot weather experienced. These agencies have also agreed to partner with Lumbee River EMC to distribute our funds. Participating agencies include: Fayetteville Urban Ministry, Department of Social Services of Hoke County, Robeson County Church and Community Services and Scotland County Church and Community Services. These agencies will allocate LREMC Cares funds on a first come first serve basis until all funds are depleted.

“Our members are very important to us and we welcome the opportunity to assist those in need,” said President and CEO, Randall Jones. The fund provides qualifying members a one-time annual assistance, up to $150.00. This year so far, the Fund has helped 161 members and has already distributed over $23,000 to help our members who need assistance.
