The Currie Insurance Agency was named Business of the Month by the Red Springs Chamber of Commerce.
“We started in 1961 right here on Third Avenue,” said Billy Currie, owner.
The office is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturdays.
Talking about the beginning of the business, Currie said his family played a great role in making for a successful start.
“It was all a family business those years way back,” he said.
Currie said his wife, brother, sister-in-law and others have kept the business operating for 51 years.
Family involvement in the business continues with Currie’s son, Mickey, who has worked at the agency for more than two decades and who has an interest in the business.
The agency offers insurance for autos, motorcycles, houses, mobile homes and some commercial buildings.
“For a long time, we wrote life insurance and health insurance, but we no longer do that,” said Currie.
The Curries have two children and five grandchildren.
He praised the agency’s staff for their hard work and dedication to serving customers.
“I have a great staff here,” he said. “They work well together.
