The Red Springs Chamber of Commerce hosted a luncheon and awards ceremony on Thursday for students and their parents.
Alvin Ivey, chamber president, presented each Student of Excellence with a plaque. Four students were selected from Red Springs High School and four were chosen from Flora Macdonald Academy.
Students were chosen by a panel of judges. Students were required to write an essay. Also, judges considered their grade point average and involvement in school, community and church.
