Firefighters were called 6:45 a.m. at to a house fire Thursday, April 12, at 111 Buie Street.
Robert and Linda McLaughlin are the owners of the house. The house was vacant at the time of the blaze.
Firefighters reported dense smoke when they arrived at the house.
Red Springs Fire Department Chief Tim Beasley said firefighters entered the front door where he said it was discovered there were “several points of origin and hot spots.” He said the power was on at the house, and several lights were on.
Beasley said the county fire marshall was contacted for further investigation.
Beasley said fire was spotted in the kitchen, living room and two bedrooms.
Firefighters returned to fire department after the fire was extinguished, but had to return to the scene when smoke was reported in the attic of the house.
Chief Beasley said he credited the quick action of his firefighters and mutual aid departments with the quick suppression of Thursday’s fire. Much of the house, he said, was saved.
Beasley said 12 local volunteer firemen and 11 members from mutual aid departments responded to the call.
